New House Wine!

One of our favorite spots on our wine list is our “house wine”. We get the opportunity to bring our favorite wine of the moment to you at an easy-to-drink price. Here at Pintxo we do or best to keep our wine list fresh and interesting – we love wines that are memorable and pair well with all of our food.
We are excited about our new House Wine:
Drac Magic Red (2013) and White (2014) from Celler Tomàs Cusiné in Costers del Segre DO (Catalonia).
Drac Màgic 2013 is an honest, uncomplicated wine blend of Grenache, Syrah, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon; Aged 3 months in French Oak. Red fruits, spicy, well-integrated tannins, notes of balsamic & persistent finish.
Drac Magic 2014 is rare white blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Macabeo and Viognier. It’s pleasant, aromatic, ultra clean and zesty. This bright wine is all about tropical fruit with a crisp and fresh finish.
Stop in this weekend for ‪#‎HappyHour‬ (25% off all of our glass pours) and share a glass of our new favorite house wine!

NYE and Wine Wednesday!

NYE and Wine Wednesday on the same day?!

That’s right folks, we’re not only bringing you a fantastic Chef’s Tasting Menu for NYE, we’re coupling this offering, the typical menu, and our regular Happy Hour times with the fact that NYE falls on a Wednesday…and that means Wine Wednesday is in full effect as well! Bonus!

For those of you who are unaware, Wine Wednesday is the one day each week that we offer $10.00 off of each and every bottle of wine or cava in the house. Want to grab a bottle of our house cava, a delicious Giro Ribot Brut Gran Reserva or a bottle of Giro Ribot Brut Rose cava for early New Year’s bubbles with dinner? Both are $10 off the bottle! It’s the perfect night to enjoy either of these, or any bottle on our list you’ve been wanting to try.

For a couple interesting and new Pintxo wine offerings, try our Beira Aral Aravo Albarino, a quintessential Spanish white that’s both easy to drink and delicious. With Wine Wednesday in full effect, you can grab a bottle for $26.00 and pair it with either our special Chef’s tasting menu, or with some favorites of our full menu, such as our fried Softshell Crab served up with salsa rojo, fried parsley, and toasted baguette, or our pan roasted Artic Char, filleted, and roasted in a serrano ham broth with candied garlic, and topped with mint and aioli.

Not a white wine fan? Our new Loidana, an ’08 Priorat (Grenache-Carignan) is a fantastic choice. This is a truly unique wine, and is perfect for warming up and starting a fantastic night out. This lovely red has both expressive fruits and finely balanced minerality. Even better, it pairs like bread and butter with our Chuleton, a seared NY steak that is served rare with potato, a mushroom demi, and Valdeon blue cheese crumbles.

Wine Wednesday Highlighting our Dec. 15th Wine Dinner!

It’s Wednesday, and that means Pintxo is offering $10 off every bottle of wine and cava in the house!  That’s right, just a little something to help push you over this mid-week hump.

This week we’d like to highlight one wine and one cava, both brought to us by August Wine Group.  August specializes in bringing the Seattle area some fantastic wines from small vineyards, and we just love that.  It is for this reason that we’ve asked August to team up with us, and the lovely Spanish Table to host a wine tasting dinner December 15th.  More about this to follow…for now, back to the wine!

Wine and Cava…

This Wine Wednesday, we’d like to recommend that you stop in and grab a bottle of either our Giro Ribot Brut Cava or a bottle of our Parmi L’Infant 2007.  Both are incredible finds, and both are $10 off for the bottle!

Giro Ribot Brut

A fascinating, storied family, the Giró clan has deep roots in the Penedes region of España, and also in the Champagne region of France. They are cultured, distinguished people making cultured, distinguished wine, and have for at least five generations. In that span, they have acquired a mastery of Cava.

Our Brut Cava is 50% Macabeo, 20% Parellada, 20% Xarel.lo, and 5% Chardonnay, and makes for a beautiful cava to pair with dinner, or for sipping on after dinner.

According to a comprehensive study by UNESCO, the best place on planet Earth to grow grape vines is… Priorat, Spain. Over a century ago Priorat, was abandoned by the last of the monks who had tended the land for four hundred years. Left behind were ancient Cariñena and Monastrell vines, producing some of the highest quality grapes on earth in some of the harshest conditions. Here, the soil is thick, flaky schist, literally packed with iron and minerals. With the heavy marine influence, blistering hot days and cool nights, this moonscape is suitable only for grapes, not even grass. Parmí, a new estate in Priorat, owns vines that are over a century-old, owned by three Italian amici, Parmí approaches the craft of winemaking with the knowledge, convictions, and best practices of Northern Italy, where clarity of fruit reins supreme. How appropriate this mentality is for Priorat! With expert French-oak fermentation, individual grape picking, and a single-bulb cellar sensibility, this estate is truly making some of the most inspired wines in Europe, not just Spain. Parmí is situated at ground-zero for Priorat’s best Cariñena. As fascinating, mysterious, and head-spinning as these wines are, perhaps the wines of Parmí can in fact be summed in one word: searing. The intensity is almost other-worldly–enveloping the nasal passage, penetrating the palate and epithelium, and over-loading those message-carrying scillia that tell our brain what we’re smelling.

Parmi L’Infant 2007 is a mix of 80% Garnacha and 20% Carinena.
